As Peterborough’s leading multi-purpose venue, The Cresset needed a website that could clearly communicate the full range of entertainment, community activities, events and facilities it offers.
The existing website was difficult to navigate and no longer reflected the quality or personality of the venue. With a wide range of audiences and services to accommodate, The Cresset needed a more professional digital presence that made information easier to find while giving its team greater control over ongoing updates.
As The Cresset’s digital partner, Geek designed and developed a new mobile-first website built around clearer user journeys, flexible page templates and a more approachable visual identity. Our work included website design and development, UX planning, a bespoke mega menu, animated content elements and integration with its TicketSolve booking system.
We created a cleaner and more vibrant design that builds on The Cresset’s existing brand guidelines. Rounded corners, a wider colour palette and bold typography give the website a friendly, community-focused feel while maintaining a professional and consistent appearance.
Navigation was a key priority. The new mega menu helps users move quickly between live entertainment, venue hire, community activities, shops, fitness facilities and food and drink. The mobile experience was also designed from the outset, ensuring the website remains clear and easy to use across different devices.
To simplify event management, we developed a bespoke integration with TicketSolve. Event information is pulled directly from the booking system to create relevant show pages automatically, removing the need for The Cresset’s team to manually copy content across. This saved significant time during the initial migration of almost 100 events and continues to reduce administration as new shows are added.
We also introduced movement through sliding section headings and animated image galleries, helping the website feel more dynamic and better suited to a live entertainment venue.
The design system was extended to accommodate The Fayre Spot, The Cresset’s on-site bar and restaurant. Its dedicated page follows its own brand guidelines while remaining connected to the wider website through shared layout principles and colour references.
The result is a more professional, accessible and engaging website that better represents The Cresset’s role within the local community. It is easier for visitors to explore, simpler for the internal team to manage and provides a flexible platform for promoting events, services and venue activity.
