the initial stage
The first stage was to build the brand guidelines. We had the logo and product packaging to build from, which was a great start, but we needed to make an eyecatching, luxurious site that expanded on this. The logo and packaging’s gold linework was reflective of the art deco style from the roaring 20s, so we wanted to have elements of this running through the whole site to create a vintage-inspired, luxurious theme.
ITC AVANT GARDE
ITC Avant Garde Gothic is a font family based on the logo font used in the Avant Garde magazine. Herb Lubalin devised the logo concept and its companion headline typeface, then he and Tom Carnase, a partner in Lubalin’s design firm, worked together to transform the idea into a full-fledged typeface.
