As VetX International’s purpose is to share impactful content freely, they came to us wanting to implement a community hub that users could access. Furthermore, to offer as much information to the user as possible, we were tasked with redesigning the homepage to feature relevant blogs and podcasts.

the initial stage
The first task was to design the news style homepage, which would provide users with quick access to all the latest news articles and recently uploaded podcasts. The challenge was not to overload the page with too much information, so it became a wall of content. Therefore, the homepage leads the user to travel through the homepage and the rest of the site through the correct placement of content, useful links, and iconography.
But, to ensure people didn’t keep using VetX and not sign up, we implemented which only allows a certain number of articles to be read a week before asking the reader to become a member.

A modern, geometric typeface. Influenced by other popular geometric, minimalist sans-serif typefaces of the new millennium. Designed for optimal readability at small point sizes while beautiful at large point sizes.

next steps
Now that most front-facing pages had been designed, we focused on the member-only sections. Once a user signs up, they have access to unlimited articles and podcasts and exclusive features such as a profile, forums, rewards for contribution.
Through our design and development, veterinary experts can create a custom profile that is public to other members. This profile is customisable and allows members to review the articles and podcasts they have engaged with.
But, we also enabled the site to track when a member has contributed. Whether they spend time building their profile, reading content or interacting with the community, points build up within their profile, which users can exchange for rewards.

An additional feature of VetX International was the ability to complete online courses. Once a member signs up, they can benefit from learning specific skills through quizzes, worksheets, tools and much more. Furthermore, our development team implemented live progress results so once a member has completed a module; they can see how close they are to achieving the overall course.
Overall, we assisted VetX International in extending their existing site’s functionality to offer veterinary professionals tools to develop their careers.
